Hello Jerry5337,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important being able to update your Mac Mini is to you! The good news is the following steps will be helpful in resolving your issue of not being able to install the macOS Sierra update and get your Mac Mini working properly again!

Try running First Aid on your hard drive with the built in Disk Utility tool, as this can correct simple issues like you're experiencing. Then restart your Mac Mini and then try the install again.

Disk Utility for Mac: Repair a disk using Disk Utility
How to turn on or turn off your Mac

Use safe mode to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, delete system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. Log into your user account in safe mode and try installing again.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode

Cheers!

Well the solution from @applesupport on Twitter. I had the file that I got from my Mac Book Pro; I copied to the Mini so it would not have to download. Well that does not work; I removed the install file and did a download from the AppStore. It worked!

I always run First Aid on the disk before and after an upgrade. I do this on my Windows computers too (defrag).
